Later this month, celebrity pig farmer and TV presenter Jimmy Doherty will once again be hosting his popular sausage, beer and music Harvest Festival at his rare breed farm in Wherstead, Ipswich.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the delights on offer… Let’s face it, he had us at sausages and beer!
This year, Brit-pop sensations Reef will be headlining The Main Stage on Saturday night, with Newton Faulkner and the ever-popular Chas & Dave doing the honours on Sunday – amongst a whole host of support acts. There’s sure to be something to suit all musical tastes, with The Garden Stage offering a more intimate, chilled vibe.
If you’re more foodie than muso, you’ll be right at home in Jimmy’s Cook Shack, where you can enjoy live demonstrations by a great line up of celebrity chefs – including Gennaro Contaldo, Marcus Bean, Will Torrent, and Great British Bake Off stars Richard Burr and Flora Shedden. Not forgetting the famous (and hilarious) sausage eating competition!
The Chipolata Kids’ Zone will give the little ones plenty to see and do, including a circus workshop, face painting, barmy balloons, arts and crafts, magic moments and a wild west dance off! Rather appropriately, the world’s most famous pig, Peppa Pig, will also be making an appearance throughout the weekend.
As you’d expect, there’ll be a great range of food and drink on offer – everything from local sausage producers to craft beer brewers, and lots of other interesting hot and cold food stalls from all over the world.
A brand new science and nature trail will also be open, where you’ll have an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the farm’s animals, indulge in a spot of gardening and learn how to make sausages! Lots of fun for all the family.
