If you’re paying us a visit early next month and would like to combine Halloween and Fireworks with a bit of culture (and why wouldn’t you?), we’ve got just the thing.
Christchurch Park in Ipswich’s town centre will once again be hosting a 5th November extravaganza – Fireworks in the Park – with a spooky Halloween theme, fun fair and fancy dress procession.
Alongside the epic fireworks display, there’ll be music by DJ Rave Digger & MC Bone Shaker, a live performance by the Just Jay dance group on the East Coast Productions stage (with a hilarious guest appearance by Mr Bean), choreographed zombie dance routines and a very exciting new addition – an open air ‘Theatre in the Park’.
‘The Catesby Catastrophe’ is a short, pantomime-style comedic play, presenting the Guy Fawkes (or more accurately, Robert Catesby) story in a fun-filled ‘Horrible Histories’ style. Be prepared for plenty of audience participation and lots of silly slapstick – suitable for children of all ages, and big kids too!
The park itself will feature moody lighting, using the trees to throw haunting shadows and shapes, and will be decorated with eerie grave stones to create a living cemetery, complete with ghoulish dancers and ghost train music along the walkways.
A November 5th celebration wouldn’t be complete without a bonfire and Fireworks in the Park is no exception. There’ll also be performances by the colourful Suffolk School of Samba, Zahara the Stilt-Walking Witch, Tri-Fire fire performers and much more!
Gates open at 6pm on Saturday 5th November, with lots of spooky fun for all the family!
Advance tickets are available now from the Ipswich Regent box office (with £1 booking fee per ticket), Ipswich Star and tourist information offices and various local shops – priced at £6 for adults and £4 for children under 16. The price on the door will be £8 for adults and £6 for children. Children under 5 go free.
